In this Piece we will preview the 2012 New York Jets and look at what we can expect on both sides of the ball, as well as the addition of Tim Tebow and their schedule with some nice angles.

In 2012 The Jets will be set to soar. In a city like New York, where the Jets struggle to dominate the back pages of the news papers with the Super Bowl champion Giants garnering most of the attention, the Jets went out and made perhaps the boldest move in the entire off season by bringing in Qb Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos. Tebow who led a Denver team that started out 1-4 to a playoff win, will push Marc Sanchez as his primary back up. Sanchez is coming off a tough year and looks like he may have regressed from the Prior to years where he helped lead the Jets to back to back AFC Championships games.

Much of the blame stems from the Jets getting away from their ground and Pound running game. The Jets run game has declined in each of the past 2 seasons down to 106 rush yards. This is a far cry from the 167 yards per game they averaged in 2010 in Coach Ryans first year. To fix the problem the Jets hired a new offensive coordinator in Tony Sparano, who will look to implement a variation of the wildcat offense that was run in Miami. To Make things easier the Jets acquired some large blocking receivers in Chaz Schilens through free agency and Stephen Hill through the draft fron Georgia Tech. The Jets have a solid offensive line for the most part led Center Nick Mangold and D-Brick Ferguson. Their one weak link Wayne the "Toll booth" Hunter did hurt them several times last season with his blown assignments. The Jets will be grooming draft pick Robert T. Griffin, who was solid last season blocking at Baylor for RG3. The Jets will have Shone Green back as their lead back and if he stays healthy will see plenty of action. We can also expect to see Sparano have some unique plays ready for Tim Tebow. The Jets know he can run the ball well. They saw the tape from their loss at Denver last season where Tebow drove Denver down the field for the game winning touchdown on a drive that started on their own 5 yard line, ending with a game winning late fourth quarter score. The Jets also have Santonio Holmes back as the lead receiver along with superb pass catching tight end Dustin Keller as they hope that March Sanchez can recapture his form.

On Defense the Jets will look to improve on their worst season under Rex Ryan. The once unstoppable Jets defense took a turn for the worse last season allowing 23 points per game up from 16 in Ryans first season. To fix this problem the Jets drafted a pure pass rusher in Quinton Coples out of North Carolina. He should provide immediate help with his ability to get to opposing Quaterbacks. The Jets have a solid linebacking crew led by Bart Scott. This season Scott has undergone an even more intense off season program and was even quoted as saying he has seen his six pack of Abs for the first time. This year he says the Jets will be hungrier to get back to where they were the prior 2 seasons before last seasons 8-8 disappointment. In the back field the Jets are among the leagues best as they have arguably the best cornerback in the game in Derelle Revis. To join him the Jets scored free agent strong safety Laron Landry and he will compliment free safety Eric Smith. With these solid additions and a rejuvenated roster on both sides of the ball we can look for Rex Ryan and the Jets to do less talking and more playing. The Key will be how well Sanchez plays and how much looking over his shoulders he will do, wondering if and when he may be replaced By Tebow and his legion of supporters who would like nothing more than to watch him get the starting Job.

The Jets will open and end their season with Buffalo a team they swept last season. They will open at home and then travel to Pittsburgh and then Miami before starting a 3 game home stand against San Francisco, Houston, and Indianapolis. After that they go into New England in one of the biggest games on their schedule. They they come back home for Miami before going on their bye week. As they come off the week of rest they travel West for a pair of road games in Seattle and at St. Louis before coming back home for the 2nd game with the New England. They will then stay home for a game with Arizona before taking back to the road for a pair of tough AFC South games at Jacksonville and Tennessee. The Jets will them return home for their last home game against San Diego before ending the regular season at Buffalo. Looking at some key angles on the Schedule, we note the Jets are 9-4 to the spread as a Monday night road dog and 5-1 as a dog of less than eight on Monday night. They will play a Monday night road game at Tennessee on December 17th and its worth noting the Jets have covered the last 6 times vs the Titans. Staying with the December theme we note the Jets have covered 6 straight in this month on the road vs winning division opponents. The Jets need to be careful of a let down particularly out West as they are 2-8 to the spread on the road vs non conference opponents and are 0-5 ats at Seattle.

Jets should rebound and once again be a playoff team. How far they go will be determined on how well they adapt to their new offensive coordinator and the progression of Sanchez along with the addition of Tim Tebow and several other free agents. The Jets must also regain their swagger on defense as they do battle in what will once again be a tough AFC East Division. Whether your Jets fan or a football fan in general I hope you enjoyed this preview as well as the upcoming NFL Season.
