Money Management
Only 2 to 3% of the people who wager on sports are actual long term winners. For the most part it's not because the losers are bad handicappers, or using poor handicapping sources. It's because they have no concept of what a bankroll is, any respect for it, or how to use it.
There are 3 components to successful sports investing:
(1) Handicapping the games proficiently using historically proven methods.
(2) "Shopping for Lines" to get the best value(Extremely Important).
(3) Employing a disciplined money management system and NOT risking your entire bankroll on a game or in a week.
*** One of the toughest things to do in life is to follow instructions. Everyone looks for a shortcut. But if you are able to achieve the patience and discipline to follow these rules you will be more financially successful than you ever imagined.
# 1 - Define your bankroll. This is a sum which, if you were to lose the entire amount, would not alter your current chosen lifestyle. Use a separate bankroll for each sport (for example, College & NBA Basketball use separate bankrolls.) Don't be embarrassed if this amount is small. with discipline it will grow large!
# 2 - Wager a constant predetermined percentage of your bankroll on each game in the handicapping period. For example, I have regular picks for 1 unit and TOP picks for 2 units.
#3 - Never wager more than 10 games in a day or at a given time. I usually have 2 reports on weekends during the football season and some weekends in college basketball and actually break it down and look at it as 2 days.
These are basic guidelines.

The Spurs look to bounce back from their 109-93 loss in Game 4 and build on their 4-0 ATS record in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home.
I expect the Spurs to play big tonight in their final home game of the season and notch a win here.
Like many great teams, the Spurs usually make adjustments after a loss, going 22-5 following a defeat this season, outscoring these opponents by 9.4 PPG. And the Heat have now alternated wins and losses for 11 straight games, going 0-5 (SU and ATS) with a mere 85.4 PPG when following an SU victory since beating the Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cleveland Indians are thrilled to return home.
Justin Masterson may be the most relieved.
Coming off a lackluster road trip, the Indians and Masterson can continue their home dominance in Friday night's series opener with the Washington Nationals.
A nine-game homestand may be just what the Indians need to begin cutting into the 4 1/2-game gap on AL Central-leading Detroit. Hosting an NL foe may be even better since they've won seven in a row in Cleveland in interleague play, batting .341 with 15 homers while averaging 7.6 runs per game.
The pitching staff has been particularly outstanding in four home interleague wins this year, compiling a 1.25 ERA with the rotation getting each victory.
Masterson (8-5, 3.68 ERA) was responsible for one of them, allowing one run with seven strikeouts in six innings of a 5-2 win over Cincinnati on May 29th. He's won three straight interleague starts at Progressive Field, yielding two runs with 25 strikeouts in 22 innings.
The right-hander is 5-1 with a 2.36 ERA in seven home starts in 2013.Look for the INDIANS to continue their home dominance in Interleague action and get the win here on Friday night.
