7* Monday MLB SEA/TOR
Toronto vs. Seattle,
08/05/2013 22:10 EDT,
Score: 3 - 1
Money Line: -121 Seattle
The Seattle Mariners host the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday in game one of a three-game set. Seattle is coming off a 3-2 win over Baltimore, while Toronto beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday, 6-5.
Hisashi Iwakuma gets the nod for the Mariners in this one. We were happy to fade Iwakuma while he dealt with a back issue, but he has regained his solid form, and we’ll go right back to the well to back him in this one.
Iwakuma had posted a 7.31 ERA in his first three starts in July while he dealt with a bad back, but he’s past that issue now, and has posted a 0.96 ERA while going 2-0 in his last three starts.
He’s made two career starts versus the Blue Jays, going 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 10.8 K/9 rate.
The Mariners are 15-4 in Iwakuma’s last 19 home starts.
R.A. Dickey counters for the Blue Jays. He’s had a disappointing year in his first year in Toronto, posting a 4.66 ERA on the season.
In his first start versus Seattle this season, Dickey allowed seven earned runs over six innings of work.
The Blue Jays are 6-14 in their last 20 games in Seattle.
The Mariners are 7-2 in the last nine meetings between these teams.
Good Luck, Razor Ray
