New Jersey vs. Nashville,
12/03/2016 14:00 EDT,
Score: 5 - 4
Money Line: -157 Nashville
The set-up: The 10-7-6 New Jersey Devils travel to Nashville to take on the 11-8-3 Predators in an early afternoon contest on Saturday. The Devils have struggled on the road this year (3-7-4) and are currently on a four-game slide, overall. Meanwhile, the Predators will open a three-game homestand with an 8-1-1 record at Bridgestone Arena on the season.
New Jersey: The Devils fell 4-3 in overtime Thursday night at Chicago and will attempt to avoid a seventh straight road defeat Saturday afternoon. That’s in stark contrast to the team's play at home at the Prudential Center, where they’ve gone 7-0-2. Maybe New Jersey can build off the fact that it went went toe-to-toe with one of the league's best teams on Thursday, matching the Blackhawks' 33 shots, winning 55 percent of the faceoffs and out-hitting them 20-14. Cory Schneider (8-6-4, 2.63 GAA and .912 save percentage) is expected to be in goal
Nashville: The Predators are well rested, having last played in a 5-3 victory over Colorado on Tuesday, the team’s fourth win in five outings. Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne was just named the NHL's First Star of November and with good reason. He capped November with a 9-1-2 record, a 1.49 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage!
The pick: The Devils road play has been lousy all year and New Jersey goalie Cory Schneider owns a 1-6-3 mark with a 2.90 GAA on the road this season. The Predators have been dominant at home all season and no one played played better in goal during November than Nashville’s Rinne. He’s 7-1-1 with a 1.33 GAA at home this season and let’s make Nashville an 8* play.
