This is an 8* play on the NYY.
The Bronx Bombers have taken 2-of-3 in this series in Toronto, and I don't like the Blue Jay's chances of salvaging a split in the finale.
Sonny Gray will toe the slab for New York, and he's owned the Blue Jays in his career. He's 2-2 with a 2.26 ERA in four starts at Rogers Center since 2015, and he's struck out 26 batters in 25 innings in those games. The Blue Jays lineup is batting just .193 against him.
Toronto will hand the ball to Marcus Stroman, who was hit hard by the Yankees last year. He was 1-2 with a 5.32 ERA in five starts against New York in 2017. Aaron Judge did plenty of damage in those games, going 6-for-12 with three home runs.
Stroman battled a shoulder injury this spring, and that prevented him from making a start on Opening Day. I expect the Jays to be quite cautious with their ace, and he could be looking at a relatively short outing.
