Pittsburgh vs. Detroit,
04/01/2018 13:10 EDT,
Score: 1 - 0
Money Line: -113 Detroit
This is a 9* play on the Detroit Tigers.
The Tigers wasted a strong effort by Jordan Zimmerman Friday, losing by a score of 13-10 in extra-innings.
They send ace Michael Fulmer to the mound in Game 2 Saturday, and the former rookie of the year was sharp in spring training. He went 1-1 posting a 2.12 ERA and striking out 15 batters in 17 innings of work. His split stats over the last two seasons show he's far better at home than on the road (9-6, 3.33 ERA at Comerica Park), and far better during the day than at night (9-4, 2.71 ERA in day games).
The Pirates hand the ball to Trevor Williams, who got roughed up in the Grapefruit League. He was 0-3 with a 5.87 ERA in three starts. Williams was 4-6 with a 4.96 ERA in 11 starts on the road last season.
While Pittsburgh managed to win a wild game in the series opener, the Pirates still conceded 10 runs. That's a major concern for a team that finished with the worst run differential of any club this spring (-48).
