10* UCLA (4:15 ET): After losing on Opening Night to Cincinnati, a game in which they appeared to be the "sharp side," UCLA figures to see a lot of people jumping off the Chip Kelly bandwagon for Week 2 now that they are laying points. But one of the reasons we laid off the Bruins in Week 1 was that it was a road game. The 24-14 defeat (as 2.5-pt dogs) was their 15th loss in the last 16 games away from the Rose Bowl. Now its time for the home opener and a team we do expect to improve big-time in Kelly's 2nd year is a strong play against a San Diego State side that had a disastrous outing (despite winning) in its opener.

San Diego State won 6-0 over Weber State last week, gaining only 238 yards. Granted, that was more than UCLA gained against Cincinnati, but the Aztecs were facing a FCS foe. San Diego State was a team we regularly faded down the stretch last year as they fell to 7-6 overall. The problem was on the offensive side of the ball as the Aztecs averaged only 20.6 PPG for the season and last week showed there is still a long way to go. The defense absolutely did its job (Weber State ranked Top 10 in FCS poll), but it's going to be a much taller task here against a Chip Kelly-led offense that's going to score a lot more. It's tough to see San Diego State's offense keeping up.

It's been a decade since these programs last met. UCLA has won all 15 prior matchups by an average of 24 PPG. Granted, a lot of that includes the "glory years" and San Diego State has actually been the more successful program recently. But this is a huge game for Kelly after the disappointing loss to Cincinnati and last year's 3-9 finish. The Bruins are 18-3 SU all-time in home openers and just two years removed from a season in which they went 6-0 SU at the Rose Bowl (they went 0-6 on the road that same season). UCLA had a really hard home schedule last season. With so much experience back (19 starters), the pressure is on Kelly to deliver and we think he will. 10* UCLA
