Earliest Cash - Rickenbach MLB Rotation #951 Thursday 8* Philadelphia Phillies Money Line (+) @ Cincinnati Reds @ 12:35 ET - The Reds Sonny Gray had an excellent August and is having a strong season. But the game is about more than just the starting pitcher! That said, there is great line value here the much better team, coming off a loss and in the +150 underdog price range for this one! Gray is only 1-5 in his 9 day game starts this season. We get extra value here because the Phillies Jason Vargas is coming off his worst start since coming to Philadelphia this summer. You can chalk that one up to "trying to do too much" against his former team and getting away from his normal game plan. Prior to that ugly outing against the Mets, Vargas had allowed 3 earned runs or less in 6 of 8 outings and he logged at least 5 and 2/3 innings in all 6 of those solid starts. Lets not forget that the Reds had lost 6 of 7 prior to yesterday's win which came on a rare off-night for the Phillies ace, Aaron Nola. Also, Philly had won 3 in a row overall plus 5 of its last 7 road games prior to last night's loss. Since mid-July, the Phillies are 15-6 when off a loss. Since mid-August, Cincinnati is just 9-16 overall and that includes last night's win. Grab the big dog value here. Since August 1st, the Reds are just 3-6 against left-handed starters and they already got shut down by Phillies lefty Drew Smyly in the opener of this series. More of the same here. 8* PHILADELPHIA
