10* Colorado (8:05 ET): This particular matchup is one I've been waiting to play for some time now. It's a matchup that the Avalanche have been looking forward to as well. They've lost five straight to the Blues, including 3-1 here in St. Louis early in the season. But just three years removed from being the WORST team in the league, the Avs have been transformed into one of the best. They own the NHL's best goal differential (+31) and tonight is their chance to move into first place in the Central Divison (passing the Blues). I'll back them in a game they most definitely have "circled."

Colorado has been beaten just once in its last nine games and that was an OT loss to Calgary. Since then, they've bounced back w/ a couple of 3-1 wins at home. They beat Philadelphia and New Jersey, neither of whom is at the level of tonight's opponent, but both wins were still impressive. They are about to get stronger in goal w/ Philip Grubauer set to return from injury. On offense, the Avs have scored 3+ goals in 10 straight games and 15 of their last 17.

St. Louis may lead the Central, but they have 12 come from behind wins and have not been nearly as dominant as Colorado has. The defending Stanley Cup Champs have a YTD goal differential of just +9, not even in the top 10 in the league and nowhere close to Colorado's +31. The Avs are most definitely the better club in my eyes, they've got some serious revenge on the mind and they are better rested. The Blues have given up an average of 3.6 goals over the L5 games. 10* Colorado
