San Francisco vs. Miami,
07/02/2015 12:10 EDT,
Score: 4 - 5
Money Line: -143 Miami
Giants RH Matt Cain (2014: 2-7, 4.18 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Jose Fernandez (2014: 4-2, 2.44)
The former first-round pick, Fernandez has not played baseball in 13 months, after Tommy John surgery but now today he comes back to the hill to face the SF Giants. The young man is perfect 12-0 with a 1.09 ERA in 20 career starts at home. (In five rehab starts, he struck out 33 in 24 2/3 innings.)Meanwhile, the Giants starter this afternoon Matt Cain returns to the mound, after elbow surgery and has not pitched at the MLB level since last May. Cain after some tremendous seasons, has not done all that well over the last few seasons, and had a 10-17 overall record with a slightly bloated 4.06 ERA.
Right now with the Giants struggling and blowing a 3 run lead yesterday while losing 6-5, their flow seems off and they look like legitimate fade material. With the buzz associated with the return of Fernandez Im betting the Marlins will take advantage of their downtrodden guests and play hard today and get us the win.
The Marlins are expecting more than 30,000 fans for the contest they have tabbed as #JoseDay.
