Washington vs. NY Mets,
08/01/2015 19:10 EDT,
Score: 2 - 3
Money Line: -144 NY Mets
This is an 8* play on the NYM.
The Mets only trail Washington by two games in the NL East standings, and they will look to cut that deficit in half with a win at home tonight. New York is 36-18 at home, while the Nats have a losing record on the road.
Jacob deGrom will toe the slab for the Metropolitans, and he's almost unbeatable at home in New York. deGrom (10-6, 2.05 ERA) tossed seven scoreless innings, giving up just two hits in a 3-2 home win opposite Zack Greinke in his last start. He's 5-2 with a 1.48 ERA in 10 starts at Citi Field this year.
The Nats hand the ball to Joe Ross, who is coming off back to back losses. Ross (2-3, 3.03 ERA) allowed three runs on five hits over six innings in a 3-1 loss at Pittsburgh his last time out. He was tagged for three runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings in a home loss to the Mets prior to that.
Yoenis Cespedes will make his Mets debut tonight, and he's coming in swinging a red hot bat. He's batting .375 with four home runs and seven RBIs over the last seven days.
